i've been hooked on your writing here for months now, and despite having the misfortune of being born an ESL, reading your work has improved my life in many small ways by shifting how i view our culture, myself and others. but no one cares, so lets get to the question.

i'm running out of articles written in english here. i'm looking for more of your work, as ive gone through everying in english many times...understanding some of it. it challenges you to understand...which is rare.

I assume there are no translations of the earlier writings in english and that much would be lost in translation in any case. i need to find equally intelligent authors. ideally those of similar ideals, and those with a similar style and mindset.

trilema has lead me to nassim taleb, but since i do not know HOW to search to search for such, im finding it difficult to learn where to search for such. in other words im asking for reccomendations from the only source i can trust at this point. authors you respect and value. essays, books, etc...

i understand your time is valuable and that im asking for a rather large favor, but i might as well ask. i'd be appreciative for even the smallest list of books, or advice. thank you for your time either way.

You've seriously read all the English articles ? How long did it take you ?

Also, there's of course the log of The Most Serene Republic, have you read that ? There's often links posted there, many times to valued material (Naggum, Schwartz, TLP among others). Read that too ?

  3. The log is much hairier to read, I've tried and failed. Something to do with how the topic of the conversation is constantly changing, and how people type

    an idea

    over several short

and it's incredibly annoying to try

    another party: hi!!! im boxxy

    and decipher what they're saying.

By comparison, reading Trilema is/ was a breeze.

    > and how people type

Well in fairness that only really started recently in any sort of volume (and meanwhile I put an end to it anyway).

    > much hairier to read

That's true, though, in the general, conversation is more fluid and there's somewhat higher intellectual stakes to follow the log than to follow the blog, as people don't take the time to do my multi-paragraph introductions to topics. If they do it's a line called likbez and postscripted, not really the same thing at all.

  5. @branden smith: if taleb is the single name that comes up when considering where trilema led you, you haven't been following all the links. To the log, offsite, all of 'em. I imagine ~lifetimes could be spent going through the maze (and no, I don't think there are transmissible shortcuts).

@alex: flexibility's a great thing to acquire, and afaik nobody tore their crotch (yet?) from stretching with the logs.

All true. The nonsense logic I used during a 3 night bout of insomnia required a retraction the next morning on another article.
It would take considerable effort to find a page on Trilema without reference to other works/authors.

Reading all English articles, excluding TMSR and logs on the first pass? Roughly 1.5 weeks. Just short of 4 months in total, re-reading for pleasure/comprehension.

Discovered Trilema on a blog written by an SJW who was waxing poetic on the topic of internet monsters, violated rights and a certain meat list.

I found TLP two nights ago, and today will be TMSR with the logs moving forward, hairy as they may be. I speak fluent chat and I'm learning conversational contempt.

Thank you for the reply and again, Gratefully appreciate your work.

Well, that inspired me to ask the machine. Here's what it had to say :

    | SUM( LENGTH(post_content) - LENGTH( REPLACE(post_content, " ", ""))) |
    | 10749904 |
1 row in set (10 min 29.45 sec)

So of we take you at your word, when not reading for leisure you can go through 5`824 articles at the rate of about 10749904 / 1.5 / 7 / 24 / 3600 = 11.84 words per second ; and you don't need to sleep.

Meanwhile if we count how the machine itself took ten and a half minutes to count them all, I suppose we could produce one trilema db server out of every 1440 yous, which is not such a terrible result.

Hmm, actually that's not right at all! I accidentallied a comparison sign, so the above numbers are for all Romanian articles.

The English set is considerably lighter : only 2`375 items weighing some 3`451`017 words.

If one stops to think that the Romanian side ran for about four years (from Dec 31st 2008 to Oct 3rd 2012) whereas the English side for five and a half, almost six ... apparently there's just not nearly as much I have to say in English as I used to say in Romanian ? This comes as somewhat of a shock to me, I must confess!

  9. The cables, dude.

Nah, I'd be surprised if that amounted to a whole million, so it wouldn't account for the disparity. Turns out there's nothing a whole diplomatic corps can do to compete with blogomirea.

  11. Hi,

I was just dropping in a quick line to know, if I could send some great article ideas your way for a guest post at your website ?

If you like my suggested ideas, I can then provide you high-quality FREE CONTENT/ARTICLE. In return, I would expect just a favor of a backlink from within the main body of the article.

Do let me know if I can interest you with some great topic ideas?

    Best Regards,

    Rachel Stinson

  19. You know that's spam, right?

I don't know it's spam ; I know it's some derpy chick in India "tryna make it in this game". To be spam it has to be automated. An orclands fastfood shortcook spending his nights and weekends copy/pasting shit in website forms by hand ain't "spamming", he's just misfortunate. Had he the good luck to be born in Alabama, he'd be "getting himself an education" through the exact same process, and in short order become a "professor of constitutional law" and the next fucking president.

Though I can see why it'd be, indefensibly and unsubstantially, flagged as "spam", by the pantsuit moron world. "You're illegal", after all, right, they know what rape is, they know what spam is, they know what everything is -- and somehow, inexplicably and totally not transparently everything is merely so as to defend them from having to ever do anything. "Why aren't you out there, spending your nights and weekends begging strangers ?" "Oh, that'd be spam". See ? Anyone refusing their retard handshake is "abusive", anyone trying to get ahead is "illegal", anyone actually managing to get ahead is "a psychopath", there's a list of these self-generated and auto-deployed retard's private explanations of his own retardation. They coincidentally happen to use human language words, but the similarities stop there.

And yes, by "chick" I mean exactly what I meant yesterday, "wtf are those two chicks doing ?! oh, that's they're uber they're trying to get to" "you know... they're a couple" "yeah, a couple of chicks".

  21. I guess either you're right or else google captcha is broken. Though stuff like "gfdgddffgdf@yandex.com" rather promises you're right.

  22. To my mind, spam would be a message that's a) repeated regardless of context, b) without (significant) variation, and c) broadcast to as many destinations as possible.

If a person is doing it as part of their task (job) - X hours per day without break, how is that substantially different from a machine doing it (because it was programmed by.. a human)? Just because the person has flesh and blood it doesn't mean they're applying any thought process to the "work". I would really like to figure out why you perceive such a strong separation between machine-produced and human-produced, if you're inclined to explain further.

Yes, begging is in a way like spamming, although I would say smart beggars do apply much more intelligence than your Lisa Brown above. Marketing is also like spamming. So what of it? Being spammy isn't taboo, it just carries a negative connotation for both message and its author. And yet neither spam, begging or marketing are going away any time soon, people still do it (via either human orc or machine).

@pletzalcoatl Lulzy link, Jasmine doth sound like she had an "excellent experience" with their amaising :) driver, Silvester.

    > how is that substantially different from a machine doing it

Because no woman can actually keep up with my machines. As long as they're doing it by hand, I can single-handed all of them. 0 threat, kinda cute.

And yes, I'm aware "this doesn't scale", ie, average schmoe does not "get a new haircut" / meat market the herd etcetera. Obviously I don't care.

At fault is your presumption of contiguity, that there's somehow similarity across the WoT gap. There isn't, the difference between someone who programs computers and someone who uses computers is commensurate with the difference between plants and hominids : the left hand is food.
