mircea_popescu: diana_coman answered [09:57]
mircea_popescu: btw, do you have the rss feed for that article via deedbot ? [09:57]
mircea_popescu: (ie !!subscribe http://trilema.com/2018/euloras-communication-protocol-restated/feed will have it pop pms on any new comments to that article) [09:59]
diana_coman: mircea_popescu, I tend to check it anyway for ref [11:05]
diana_coman: but yes, I should set it [11:05]
mircea_popescu: just wanted to make sure you know about it. [11:06]
* mircea_popescu is sitting here watching 11MB/s transfers... what a pleasure. [11:07]
diana_coman: hm, does this need to be in here? I tried in pm and it says it failed [11:09]
diana_coman: !!subscribe http://trilema.com/2018/euloras-communication-protocol-restated/feed [11:10]
deedbot: diana_coman subscription to http://trilema.com/2018/euloras-communication-protocol-restated/feed failed [11:10]
diana_coman: http://trilema.com/forum-logs-for-23-apr-2018#2429543 -> is this still detached? [11:11]
a111: Logged on 2018-04-24 02:10 trinque: the !!subscribe lever is detached, yes, since it used to run back to a pretty sad pile of duct tape. [11:11]
mircea_popescu: oh [11:18]
mircea_popescu: i guess it must be. [11:18]
mircea_popescu: im guessing there's no real need to have the rss bot melded into deedbot rly. [11:18]
mircea_popescu: would rather go with loggers or something [11:19]
trinque: http://btcbase.org/log/2018-05-30#1819758 << once there was a guy who was gonna take this over. [11:35]
a111: Logged on 2018-05-30 14:58 spyked: but I will rebase the rss bot on top of this afterwards and I'll ping you right before I bring rss in-chan. [11:35]
trinque: spykedbot is apparently still here, but spyked went off dick-in-hand elsewhere? [11:37]
trinque: diana_coman: you want these aimed at you in pm? [11:37]
mircea_popescu: heh. hey spyked... what became of ye ? [11:44]
BingoBoingo: In other lolz, I got a phone call warning me of planned power outage for my block tomorrow [12:16]
diana_coman: trinque, yes please [12:18]
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: ! [12:18]
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: how long outage ? and can you arrange to be there when it happens ? [12:18]
asciilifeform: cuz it's a mighty convenient time for interloper to diddle boxes. [12:19]
asciilifeform: ( and peculiarly coincident with trinque's deedbot hiccups from last night ) [12:20]
trinque: diana_coman: done [12:21]
diana_coman: thanks trinque ! [12:21]
trinque: yw [12:21]
asciilifeform: trinque: spyked seems to be on a multi-month 'see the world' thing, e.g. http://btcbase.org/log/2018-11-04#1869254 [12:22]

trinque: I guess next time I'm wrestling the portage snake at 11pm I'll say "at least spyked is enjoying himself" [12:24]
asciilifeform: trinque: portage snake seems pretty long btw -- what did you end up being stuck on ? [12:25]
* asciilifeform has a box ready for beta cuntoo any day of the week [12:25]
asciilifeform: BingoBoingo: plz post the exact announced outage time asap [12:27]
mircea_popescu: haha wtf. [12:29]
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo definitely gotta be there. [12:30]
mircea_popescu: da fuck "planned" is this, "tomorrow". [12:30]
trinque: asciilifeform: not stuck, swapped onto wallet work for a bit. improved the deposit handling and swept a bunch of small outputs. [12:31]
trinque: I'm running one of my primary work boxes on cuntoo atm, working great. I'm going to try to cut a release during the holiday. [12:31]
asciilifeform: neato [12:32]
trinque: just need to make an ebuild of phf's latest, haven't done that yet, and to see what deps it will require in the genesis. [12:32]
asciilifeform: trinque: i'm quite looking forward to adult cuntoo , eventually would like to move whole buncha boxes to it [12:32]
trinque: since its set up to have classical gentoo portage as "just another repo" I haven't had a single problem with building things that aren't yet vpatch-ebuilds [12:33]
trinque: the ebuild porting story is downright comfortable. [12:33]
BingoBoingo: asciilifeform mircea_popescu: Power outage is not for the rack [12:42]
BingoBoingo: Is residential power outage [12:42]
asciilifeform: aaaaa [12:42]
asciilifeform: lol [12:42]
mircea_popescu: you mean at your house ? [12:42]
BingoBoingo: Yeah, apologies for the lack of context [12:42]
mircea_popescu: ahahaha mmkay. [12:43]
mircea_popescu: that was trippy. [12:43]
asciilifeform: verily [12:43]

BingoBoingo: I thought block would imply residential, but rereading after the panic [12:44]
trinque: asciilifeform: makes me think I gotta learn russian just for the jokes [12:48]
mircea_popescu: the jokes and the sluts, yea. [12:51]
BingoBoingo: <asciilifeform> BingoBoingo: plz post the exact announced outage time asap << FTR the planned outage time is approximadamente entre 9 y 13 [12:54]
BingoBoingo: Which just about eliminates the possibility of actual turkey tomorrow (all locally available are US style giants, frozen god only knows when) [12:55]
mircea_popescu: in other lulz, "Press Space to pause time." [13:00]
BingoBoingo: lol [13:00]
BingoBoingo: That might actually work [13:01]
mircea_popescu: you know ?! [13:06]
deedbot: http://bimbo.club/?p=85 << Bimbo.Club - A rewrite [13:57]
asciilifeform: 'I was not much of a calming presence due to my own anxiety about bitcoin and soap.' << lolwat! [13:59]
mircea_popescu: lmao emo. [14:06]
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform she had to buy http://trilema.com/2013/were-all-one/#selection-311.1-311.71 (which she did, and which apparently also comes as bars!) [14:08]
asciilifeform: lol! [14:11]
asciilifeform: and with btc ?! [14:11]
mircea_popescu: what, that's something to worry about at any point. ready worry fodder. [14:20]
asciilifeform: imho worry is waste of cpu. [14:21]
asciilifeform: in the end ragnarok anyway, yggdrasil topples, serpent nidhogg will eat world. why worry. [14:22]
* diana_coman hears asciilifefore singing don't worry, be happy [14:23]
asciilifeform: eh 'happy' optional [14:23]
diana_coman: I'm scratching my head more at the "how I was surviving without a smart phone and much longer could I live like this." + notebook maps etc but I suppose I'm essentially already too old to fully grasp the phone attachment thing [14:23]
asciilifeform: but worry is simply empty loop. ( and i think mircea_popescu hooks'em up to 220v when he finds'em doing it ) [14:23]
asciilifeform: diana_coman: pnoje-gps-ism is wildly popular in usa, where folx drive 100+km erry day and thing (nominally) walks'em around crashes/jams [14:25]
asciilifeform: but in orcistan i dunno what'd be the point [14:25]
diana_coman: I can't quite tell for sure what she means by worry i.e. if empty loop or not [14:25]
mircea_popescu: or if anything. [14:27]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: presuming we're talking about an actual critter rather than eliza, can then assume that if it put down words, then meant ~sumthing~ ? [14:28]
asciilifeform: rather than rng hiss [14:28]
mircea_popescu: we can't so assume, because natural language has no definite meaning. [14:29]
mircea_popescu: we use it by defining arbitrary "gate voltages" if you will, of "something-vs-nothing", but these are cultural, contextual and personal. [14:29]
mircea_popescu: hence, literature. [14:29]
asciilifeform: it's supposed to be gate voltage, yes. i.e. narrow down the phase space of possible meaning [14:29]
mircea_popescu: right. [14:30]
asciilifeform: ( and while we're in 'gate voltages', imho 'worry' is exactly like parasitic oscillation -- whether in electrical machine or the vibration that slowly destroys a sad washing machine ) [14:31]
mircea_popescu: aha. [14:43]
deedbot: http://qntra.net/2018/11/usg-nasa-probing-upstart-contractor-after-achieving-substantially-better-delivery-history-than-old-guard-contractors/ << Qntra - USG.NASA Probing Upstart Contractor After Achieving Substantially Better Delivery History Than Old Guard Contractors [14:52]
BingoBoingo: ^ Play ball with USG on multiple fronts, get robbed on all fronts [14:52]
mircea_popescu: heh [14:53]
asciilifeform: 'The company's lone violation is for an April 2017 accident in which an employee lost the tips of two fingers, resulting in a $750 fine.' << if troo, this is cleaner record than most auto repair shops, i suspect [15:00]
BingoBoingo: Or hardware stores [15:09]
mod6: Hi, was it decided that we would change vpatch names to have the word 'keccak' in them? Or simply keep the same as before? [15:56]
mod6: (I made a trb keccak tree over here, just about to test it out. So far, that was my only question. Once done testing and things, will bake blog posts about diana_coman's vk.pl and the grinding of the keccak vtree.) [15:58]
BingoBoingo: In local news: McDonald's second best place to work per the paper of record https://www.elobservador.com.uy/nota/-cuales-son-los-mejores-lugares-para-trabajar-en-uruguay--20181120134523 [16:02]
asciilifeform: mod6: mircea_popescu specifically didn't want to change the file ext. ( but only barfed lightly when asciilifeform proclaimed 'i'ma make mine foo.kv.vpatch cuz i have 90000 private vpatches in old form' ) [17:35]
asciilifeform: http://www.loper-os.org/?p=2743 << illustrates asciilifeform's style re item [17:36]
mod6: Thanks for the info asciilifeform. For now, I've just named them the same as the original ones, for testing here on my own. Was able to press with `vk.pl` successfully, and build a trb from that pressed keccak vtree. [17:42]
diana_coman: mod6, as asciilifeform says, essentially it's preferred to keep same for ref, logs discussion http://btcbase.org/log/2018-09-19#1851864 [17:45]
a111: Logged on 2018-09-19 17:43 mircea_popescu: now as to new extensions... imo bad idea. there's manifests and things now. [17:45]
mod6: Thanks diana_coman [17:46]
* mod6 bbl [17:46]
