ThickAsThieves kako only suggested a conversion mechanism, no? [02:16]
kakobrekla correct [02:16]
asciilifeform not that it's a bad idea per se, just that the builder must be careful to avoid creating a situation where someone can lift out of his pockets by artificially steering the machine using a heavy bet [02:17]
robertmcmillan Hey Mircea. Sorry not used to this UI. How do I DM you? [02:17]

ThickAsThieves well how do you handle payout in alts? [02:18]
asciilifeform roughly, fooling the system by betting in a particular way should always have -EV. [02:19]
kakobrekla but whatever, lets not get into that, someone should at least try to do it though [02:19]
dexX7 Ademan: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=438359.msg4816701#msg4816701 + data sheet "leaked" yesterday ... gen 3 is coming [02:19]

Ademan dexX7: yeah, saw that, wasn't gen3 supposed to be out by this month though? [02:20]

asciilifeform ThickAsThieves: there is not, in fact, a programming language called 'lisp', but a large number of langs with various defining characteristics that put them in the category. [18:30]
asciilifeform ThickAsThieves: this is described, somewhat abrasively, here: http://www.loper-os.org/?p=405 [18:31]
asciilifeform ThickAsThieves: additionally, there exist other 'programmable programming languages' - most famously, 'forth' [18:31]
ThickAsThieves thx [18:32]
asciilifeform ThickAsThieves: here, for instance, is an example of a minimal lisp in ~500 lines of C: https://github.com/qyqx/small-lisp/blob/master/sl3.c [18:33]
ThickAsThieves is there a Lisp "framework" and "library" or would such be heresy? [18:35]

ThickAsThieves mostly i'm just trying to at least have a superficial understanding [18:39]
benkay if you squint, lean your head sideways and don't work with other javascript developers javascript can be written fairly lispily. [18:40]
asciilifeform one can sit a minimal, 'academic' lisp on top of virtually anything in 1/2 hr. [18:40]
asciilifeform but usually people are interested in something that is actually usable [18:40]
asciilifeform 'sbcl,' for instance, runs at close to the speed of compiled 'c' when used intelligently [18:40]

Namworld [17:06] I'm a noob coder. I could maybe have patched up something in a few months, pretended I knew what I was doing and lost customers funds, making tons of money meanwhile. But I'm not a self-centered, over-confident, can-never-fail asshat, [23:21]
Namworld [17:09] I know basic PHP and just barely touched database. I made a microapp for fun, that just tracks views and clicks and banners, for a banner exchange. Without any user interface or accounts capability. Just the script for the banners + tracking. [23:21]
Namworld [17:09] If I had patched up an exchange with added complexity and everything, it would probably have been a security disaster. [23:21]

Namworld [17:10] I can host and such [23:21]
Namworld [17:11] Dangerous thing, it took only a few hours to learn how to do. Making an exchange is in the reach of any moron willing to put a few days to learn how to and a month or two to code it full time. [23:21]
Namworld [17:12] That's why you can't trust any website that comes up with a Bitcoin service. Even if it looks nice. [23:21]
