A few days when I announced the birth of the corporation I also said something about a POSi. To get that thing going one needs two things : faction ratings with the respective empire equal no less 10x the security rating of the system in questionii and a boatload of gear.
The faction ratings part is finnicky, in the sense that your corporation needs to have that much standing with the NPCs. The standings of a corporation are calculated as the average rawiii standing of all members that have one (ie, nonzero) and have been with the corporation for more than a week. The way to do this then, I figured, is to make the corporation, not accept anyone for a couple of days, get my personal standing to 6.01iv within the week, wait for the corporation standing to update to mine (as I'd be the only member meeting the criteria), put up the tower and then it no longer matters what the corporation faction is.
My Caldari standing was a shade under 3 back when I created the corp. Now it's 5.98. The difference ? Principally, career missions! I've done all three career missions for Caldari (Akiainavas, Jouvulen and Uitra) and all three for Amarr (Conoban, Deepari, Pasha for Amarr) - which count for about half value but it's still very decent faction/hour. Since the corporation was made on the 29th, the earliest it will actually have faction will be the 5th, which means I have about two days to finesse another 0.03 or so. Cake.
The boatload of gear isn't quite as bad. Other than the tower and the twelve Advanced Mobile Laboratories (meaning 36 copy slots and 24 invention slots total!) you basically need fuel. I bought enough supplies to manufacture 1000 hours worth of fuel since I have the blueprints and that's that.
POS going online sometime on the 5th.
Update, 14 August. Here's a little something :
Of the total ~5bn units Mex offered for trade today, 1 bought ~5mn, or roughly 0.1%. That's a little more than one's "fair share" I guess. In other news the POS has been up ever since the 3rd, I'm crafting Ravens, Megathrons, all sorts of modules. Moving 1bn worth of shit on a bad day and so on. Or, to quote a corporation member, "That'll be after they figure out we're winning".
I expect so.———
