I have no idea why rape is against the law while marketing is not.

Sunday, 05 May, Year 5 d.Tr. | Author: Mircea Popescu

You will have to explain this to me.

They are both an imposition. Inasmuch as rape involves the vagina only marketing is worse of an imposition by its very structure : all people have eyes and ears, only half the people (roughly) have vaginas. Consequently, inasmuch as legislation and the use of public force aims towards the greater good of the population without bias or discrimination then that effort should be directed towards controlling marketing first.

Inasmuch as rape involves vagina, anus, mouth, armpits and even vague things such as "not being nice on the Internet", marketing is a violation of the mind whereas rape is a violation of the body. I can appreciate the retarded point of view of rednecks who consider their body more sacred than their mind, but obviously I don't agree. Mind over matter, bitches. Get with the programme.

They are both "vaguely defined" crimes. Laws against marketing couldn't be easily enforced ? No laws are easily enforced. It's always going to be vague. She was wearing a skirt, she flirted with the guy, she had him buy her drinks, she sucked his cock, they were married, whatever the hell.

Inasmuch as the copulation is pretty much the only physical purpose of human life, rape is always going to be a contentious argument, in any and all circumstances. Yes, even if a bunch of dudes gangrape some teenager.i Inasmuch as lying to people (and all, ALL marketing is lying, that's structurally what it is, no matter how white you wash it) is not in any way shape or form the purpose of human thought, marketing is always going to be a plain case of abuse.

So in short the vague in rape comes from the vague of the situation of fact compounded by the vague of the states of mind. The vague in marketing strictly comes from the first category, there's absolutely nothing vague about marketing being pernicious, inhuman and demeaning (to both perpetrator and victim, for that matter).

They both have their fans. There's actually clubs of women looking to be raped, there's private arrangements for the consumation of this apparently recreative activityii. None of this makes rape itself any less of a prosecutable offence. As best anyone can determine, it's the marketeers and the marketeers only claiming marketing is a pleasurable, beneficial or respectable activity. Why would this make rape any less of a prosecutable offence ? I mean sure, nine out of ten people participating in a gangbang are having a great time, but so what of it ?

In point of fact there can be brought no argument whatsoever that marketing is less of an ill, and less deserving of state prosecution than rape. The only explanation for the currently absurd state of affairs, where the lesser evil is grandiosely pursued while the much, much greater evil is quietly tolerated is simply myopia.

That is to say, the state imagines it's making money out of marketing, and fails to see any way to make money out of rape (the states that do don't prosecute it, for the record). This is sadly false, more is lost through the waste of time and resources brought about by marketing than any tax it ever brings or could conceivably ever bring. Much like smoking (which also has its fans).

This intolerable state of affairs can no longer continue. I am quite frankly sick of being a victim. Brothers and sisters, we need to get organised.

  2. It's a dirty little secret that genetically speaking the arousal mode for women is a lot closer to rape than any "women's studies" pretend-scholar has yet discovered. What are you people studying, play-duh models ? Of course rape is sexy, it happens to have been the way to get laid for far longer than "dinner and a movie". []

Rape seems to be the proper solution for those who can't get women successfully for reasons like being some dirty medieval pirate or some really deranged ocd geek.

Marketing seems to be the proper solution for the stinky geek by advertising him some cologne and wacko sessions.

For you being this both somewhat cruel and successful businessman, I fail to understand why are you against the ban on rape.

I'm not against banning rape. I'm flabbergasted we're not banning marketing.

Reclama este sufletul comertului. Probabil ce te deranjeaza pe tine e reclama facuta prost, nu reclama in sine?

  4. Marketing is more like convincing one into willingly having sex (as opposed to rape .. or taxes).

What, taxes are not voluntary ? Sure they are, if you ask the taxman.

And for that matter if you ask the rapist...

Rape isn't about sex. It's about subjugation and control via the mechanism of violating a person's physical sovereignty without their consent. Marketing (or propaganda, psyop, etc) is similar but whereas we each know where our physical boundaries are, we don't have a clear understanding of where our mental and emotional boundaries are. When exactly are we "violated" by marketing? When is the "line" crossed? The only book I know that spells out exactly where it is is "Controlling People" by Patricia Evans. On the surface it's a pedestrian self-help book, but it's much, much richer than that. What she illustrates is everywhere. It's so pervasive and common in our everyday language that we don't even notice. When the scales fell off my eyes I was stunned and immediately set about changing my own language. Best of all I now know exactly when the mental and emotional boundary has been crossed. I'm a huge reader yet it remains at the top of my list of best books ever.

    Can't argue with that.

  8. There's no free will, so no 'physical 'sovereignty'. And it couldn't be better for rape.

    Nao wat.

  9. The broadest reason we might ascribe is that people don't know anything that isn't told to them explicitly (enforced by: the status quo)

People that read Freud are not people that are in government; people that vote are not people that know nothing will change if you can't change the minds of everyone in the country. And so on and so on. Nobody is helping each other learn, because most fundamentally human beings in industrialized society don't want to learn, despite how abstract and wide-reaching the force of political and economic power has come to be upon each of their lives.

Or, we might say; there is no conscious logic to human life. Everything we do in this age, individually, is within a hyper-restrained web of knowledge or awareness, when compared with everything the civilization actually knows. There is no underlying sense of dedication/responsibility to making the entire human world a fair place to live, or the means to motivate oneself to that end. "We don't care".

The broadest reason we might ascribe is that people don’t know anything that isn’t told to them explicitly (enforced by: the status quo)

Now that's a theory. Ties right into that entire discussion of malum "in se".

  11. There is no underlying sense of dedication/responsibility to making the entire human world a fair place to live, or the means to motivate oneself to that end.

There is no underlying "better world", such as there isn't a "bad world", there can't be any "worse" since there isn't any "world" but and endless palette of colours, entropy, noise, choices.

Yet, kickban jewsypsy without particular reason. Because phone.

  12. Rape is merely an imposition?! You fucking disgusting evil monster. It's a violent crime. In no way is it comparable to watching a god damned commercial or an an annoying phone call. You are a deeply disturbed, deranged sociopath for even suggesting the two are remotely similar. How dare you.

    Same to you, eh.

  14. I'm sorry has someone one ever held you down and shoved marketing up your orfaces til you bleed and almost kill you? Rape is physical assault. You should have picked a non violent crime to compare. Yes rape is about power and control but it's also includes hurting someone physically for your own physical pleasure. Men who rape are less evolved unable to use intelligence to override instinct. The instinct is to dominate and aggressive nature. Its not "power and control" simply. It's something in every single male of every species. Does the lion have a mental illness too with it's harem and making the female's do the hunting (much like human men want women to do all the cooking)? Stop permeating this lie that Rape is anything that only certain men are capable of doing. Its in every man. And the only thing that stops them is fear of repercussions. And some men are more empathetic so they can't enjoy it when emotions are there. Those men are not accepted in society. Those emotional men rarely get anywhere with women because the meaner males over make them look weak and no female instinctively wants a weak male. Marketing is more like that. The aggressive male uses "marketing" to say he is better than the empathetic make by an illusion of strength. Or perhaps marketing is similar to prostitution.... You know how in-your-face a street walker needing drugs can be? She puts all her "goods" on display and tries to convince you that you want them. Prostitution is legal only in certain places. Like Vegas. Because that's where it can really make money. I don't get the implications of how marketing is something forced on you. Like rape LITTERALLY PHYSICALLY IS. And lets not forget the emotional trauma too.... I can choose not to look at a billboard. I can choose to change the station. My business can just keep hanging up on people and threaten harrassment before any real bad comes of it. These are never an option with rape. I agree with the problem that marketing got out of control. But it also increases expansion of a business which can have positive effects like more employment options. The only "growth" you get from rape is the possible pregnancy. I mean, sure, marketing could have convinced you to buy a product that was really junk and broke down and your stuck with it. But I'd say you cannot look at the girl impregnated by rape and say " I know right?! False advertising. Why did we let this happen?" I see you had some good intention to address the issues of too much marketing. So rewrite this article with a more appropriate analogy and quit just trying to use shock value to get attention. That's like a type of "marketing" for your own gain to get this article attention.

Well, the oriface thing was pretty funny, but anyway : no, rape is NOT physical assault. Physical assault is physical assault. Rape, as the term has recently been redefined, is "anything whatsoever". In which sense, marketing is, quite categorically, rape - to the exact same degree any other rape out there is rape.

If this sad state of affairs displeases you, please do complain, and loudly. Just, don't complain to me. Complain to all the idiots who've been playing fast and loose with the term, to the degree that it now means "anything whatsoever". And please, by all means, accept a share of the blame : it is, at least in part, your fault rape now means "anything whatsoever", for having not spoken up sooner. Like for instance I did, above - in which sense you owe me an apology.

Remember this the next time random attention whore talks about how she's been "raped" without any sort of physical assault being involved. Rather than nod your head like the imbecile that you are - slap her across the room and tell her that if she ever lies about being raped again you'll use a stick instead of bare hands.

    Cheers, and do come again.

I wonder what Mircea Popescu would make of Seth Godin? I wonder what Seth Godin would make of Mircea Popescu?

It would be a glorious pay per view event but I don't think even Don King in his prime could pull it off.

As it happens that Trilema is larger than... whatever you'd call the other thing, you don't need to wonder what Mircea Popescu's take would be on Seth Godin. There's no would, it already is : http://trilema.com/2017/i-think-they-might-be-overdoing-it-in-places/#selection-89.0-93.68
