Old Act

New Cat Ooo I like the illustration! Except in the way that they cover the goddamned text.

Old Act Mhm.
New Cat Omfg. This annoying stuff on top of what you're trying to read is not an "Internet things" problem. Hmm, fixtures and appurtanences. Appurtenances even. No, I was right the first time. Word of hex!

Old Act Strikes me as distinctly US. "How to get a reputation quickly. How to make up for various roles and nationalities. Vaudeville slang and phrases. How to handle your baggage. How acts are reported. Etc."
New Cat Maybe it is US, but strikes me as old US. There's not much shoulding in it, you know? Today's US needs a lot of implicit shoulding.

Old Act I guess so, but I meant the style. "Here is the world : Nipples. Parsley stu. Safety pins. Umbrellas. Nuclear Engagements. Hats. Electricity Generators. Really Small Peas."
New Cat Ahahahaha <3

Old Act We shall tell you everything about everything in equal terms to a level.
New Cat I got it, and I think you're absolutely right.

Old Act You will thus acquire an education. It will cost you five cents.
New Cat Ahahaha...

Old Act Fundamentally a very optimistic view of the world, the writer, the reader and everything else. Which obviously means egalitarian.

She said she had difficulty creating rhymes that could communicate her intended meaning. In short, Cavendish stated that she strove to keep meaning at the expense of elegance, as her aim was to successfully communicate her ideas. She also noted that she expected her work to be criticized for not being useful. In response, she stated that she wrote not to instruct her readers in the arts, sciences or divinity, but to pass her time, asserting that she made better use of her time than many others. Cavendish returned to these assertions throughout her epistles and poems. [...]
