Hello twitter

About a year and a half ago Twitter came up with the relatively bad idea of making their website unusable for me. This is usually called an "upgrade". As a result I abandoned it.

Meanwhile stuff happened, as it is wont to happen. I quit writing in Romanian, for instance. MPEx grew to about the size of the Romanian Stock Exchange, for another example. You know, the sort of stuff that happens. As it turns out, not everything that happens happens to me. Some of it happened to twitter, too.

Bugpowder Where are the intelligent forums these days? Reddit and slashdot used to be ok 4 and 12 years ago.

mircea_popescu Well if you curate it then everything is fine. You can turn zh into gold by selecting the one nugget to be found in there (somewhere). The idea is to have something that works by itself.

mircea_popescu Followers means pretty much jack. I turned my twitter acct into a rss feed of Trilema, I still have k's of followers.

Bugpowder Yeah dude, get back in. It is not busted anymore. And the quality level is very high in the right circles. Plus it only takes a minute to write a post rather than the 2 hours a good blog post takes.
mircea_popescu Heh. It only takes me 20-30 minutes really. O wow, they added a request archive link. Bejesus twitter desuckified in the interim. Now the monster task of purging the 1k+ romanian hotties i used to follow.

That's pretty much the summary of eighteen months : I made a lot of money, Twitter fixed itself and a thousand or so girlies withered and wasted away (but no matter, there's a new set cropping up each Autumn).

So I guess I'm back to Twitter. Who knew.
