Happy first birthday MPEx
With all the commotion about Bitcoin these past weeks, the fact that MPEx' public key actually switched over a week ago passed almost without notice.
The original key had been created with a one year expiry date, and so its expiration stands as proof that MPEx has been talking to the public for one year now. It's one year old on March 10th.i
Here's a nice little metric to mark the occasion :
That's just the public deposit address, of course, but still a nice round number to show off.
Other not quite as round numbers to show off : 958`508.64650896 BTC total trade during the interval, about 18`820 BTC paid out in dividends and a further 14`180 paid out as interest for the MPOE bonds. And the total humiliation of Romania's other exchange, the BVB. You know, the real one, as opposed to the virtual, play-pretend, game stuff.
PS. The first million happened in 2012. We're at about 1¼ currently. Go Bitcoin!
———- MPOE is older than that, having taken its first order in August 2011. Late February 2012 the idea to incorporate it as a BTC company and sell shares came about, and MPEx was born shortly afterwards, after reviewing the available venues (GLBSE, basically) and coming to the conclusion they suck.
