Bitcoin will die
Motto: Ставка на международную революции не значит — расчет на определенный срок и что темп развития, становящийся все более быстрым, может принести к весне революцию, а может и не принести.

ozbot This finance expert thinks Bitcoin will fall 99 percent by June
ThickAsThieves Lucky if it falls to 99%.
Duffer1 Even I could be able to afford to buy back in if that happens, that would be amazing.
assbot AMAZING COMPANY!
Duffer1 Damn you assbot!
pankkake He probably hasn't the balls to bet on that though.i
ThickAsThieves That article never bothers to make a point. TLDR: Bitcoin will die cuz it has the most support of any crypto and cuz it's volatile and crashed this week. Btw, where can I buy bitcoins again?
mircea_popescu "Bitcoin will die because it upsets the world I'm familiar with" ; "The government will prevent Bitcoin from upsetting the world I'm familiar with" ; "People who better adapt to things that upset the world I'm familiar with never get better pay, more attention and a nicer life than me". Basically Bitcoin is the anti-religion : it exposes the implicit bible of everyone else.
That's pretty much it, you know. There are to this day people resisting email. Among them, famous people, intellectually respectable people, people I personally like a lot.ii What difference does it make ?
Since we are on the topic : there are supposedly still people who resist bathing. I've never met any personally, but then again I live a very sheltered life.iii That does make a difference, of course, but certainly not to soap, or bathroom implements, or washing supplies merchants. The only place where not washing makes a difference is strictly subsumed to the slovenly in question : it severely limits their social, economical and political prospects.
Exactly the same is true of Bitcoin, incidentally. The choice of not getting into the WoT in 2012 - because it is a choice, nobody said you have to make it consciously for it to countiv, you choose by act and you choose by omission equally well - has already cost you. For instance, you can't start a MPEx security today. Maybe next year. So you can't countv in Bitcoin finance this year. Maybe next year.
The choice to stay away, whether voluntary or involuntary, whether deliberate or through omission, whether because you're poor or because you're stupid has already cost you, and will continue to cost you for the conceivable future.
And what is the price ? Why, just your social, economical and political perspectives. With every passing day you are becoming more of a nigger, in the proper sense of that term : enslaved, to the will of others, who not only think they are better than you, but also hold the whips, shackles and irons to make it plain for your needs and benefit. Nothing to do with skin color, everything to do with cryptographical cross section.
With every passing day your chances to be part of tomorrow's elite dwindle, and your chances to be part of tomorrow's downtrodden, hungry masses yearning to breathe free increase.
With every passing day Bitcoin doesn't die, your future dies a little more.
———- Well over 100 grand worth of action rolling at even odds on The price of Bitcoin will rise above or equal $10,000 USD before November 29th, 2014. That's not -99%, that's +10`000%. Even odds, you hear me ?
Also about half that much action on USD/BTC to drop below $40 in 2013. The odds tho... [↩]
- Don Knuth :
I have been a happy man ever since January 1, 1990, when I no longer had an email address. I'd used email since about 1975, and it seems to me that 15 years of email is plenty for one lifetime.

- Apparently they do exist, Antinisca Nemour being one of the last documented cases. [↩]
- Sure, the rape lobby is trying to introduce this bit of wishful thinking into the current culture, that unconscious or involuntary choices should "not count", in the sense that others should expend effort and resources to shield the individual from the effects of his or her passive choices. It will never...wash. [↩]
- Feel free to argue this point until you fall over, after which go make an independent film festival and pretend like you've shown Hollywood. [↩]

The take-away from the article is:
"Fiat is superior to bitcoin, because we in power use that power to stabilize the first and destabilize the second."

Perhaps.
There are however limits to practical exercise of any power.

That is far from happening. A lot of people now are dependent on bitcoin, most especially businesses like online casino and gamblers. So I don’t see it’s going to die anytime soon. It may possibly disappear in the limelight, but it will not totally disappear in circulation.
