EconOff delivered reftel demarche points on October 9 to Dr. Lucian Biro and Sorin Repanovici, Director for Nuclear Reactors and Senior Advisor for International Affairs, respectively, at the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control. Dr. Biro stated that, at this time, the Government of Romania (GOR) intends to support the U.S. Candidate, Dr. Ines Triay, for President of the Third Review meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Joint Convention in May 2009. However, he did note that there exists a remote possibility the GOR position could change following parliamentary elections scheduled to take place at the end of November.
