Last weekend (well... Sunday) was the Orthodoxi Easter. The tradition in these here parts is that the weak but cute shall be slaughtered for Easter (and every other day). Consequently :

Notice the questionmark on the label of the bottle of wine. It is aptly placed there, for indeed the bottle would ask a question of you : what is it ? There you go Alice, make yourself heard.

Unrelatedly, my salvia bush bloomed. You've ever seen bloomin' salvia ?

    Fraere ortodocsia a cazut ca Constantinilargestigaoazele.

    "...Noi, vlădică, protopopii şi popii Bisericii Române, dăm de ştire tuturor, că din bunăvoinţa noastră ne unim cu Biserica Romei şi voim să trăim cum trăiesc mădularele şi popii acestei Biserici sfinte... Nimeni să nu-i clătească pe Uniţi din obiceiurile Bisericii răsăritene, ci toate ceremoniile, sărbatorile, posturile, cum până acum, aşa şi de acum înainte să fim slobozi a le ţine după calendarul vechi..."

    Actul Unirii a fost semnat de toţi membrii Sinodului şi întărit cu sigiliul Mitropoliei Balgradului - Alba Iulia.
    După această mărturisire, împăratul Leopold a dat "Diploma Leopoldina", prin care Bisericii Româneşti i se recunosc drepturile ce le avea şi Biserica Romano-catolică. Însă Dieta Transilvaniei, Parlamentul era în mâinile calvinilor care n-au văzut cu ochi buni întărirea elementului catolic şi eliberarea poporului român, din Ardeal. Fiind ei proprietarii de pământuri şi atotputernici, au început a persecuta pe preoţi. Pe unii i-au băgat în temniţă, altora le răpeau vitele, ori le distrugeau bisericile şi clopotniţele şi multe alte rele, punând la cale adevărate revolte printre ţărani, ca să nu se alăture Bisericii Romei.
    Atanasie convoacă un nou Sinod la 4.9.1700, la care iau parte nu numai protopopii şi preoţii, ci şi câte trei deputaţi mireni din fiecare sat. Cei 54 de protopopi, în afară de preoţi şi mireni, au dat un nou manifest în care repetă mărturisirea celor patru puncte de credinţă: Primatul Papal, Filioaue, Purgatoriul şi Cuminicarea cu azimă.
