lobbes: spyked: as planned I have turned lobbesbot's rss-o-tron offline- feel free to have feedbot join #eulora at your convenience [11:26]
spyked: lobbes: all done. feedbot will now send rss notifications from all feeds #eulora has been subscribed to. let me know if it encounters any trouble. [11:49]
mircea_popescu: pretty cool. [11:55]

mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo can i get a shared hosting instance briefly spun up so i test drive it ? i have like a suspicion mp-wp is subtly broken in places, maybe, or something's afoot. [11:57]
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: Sure. I'll spin one up for you. GPGgram me an ssh public key. [11:59]
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/VaZij/?raw=true [12:01]
diana_coman: BingoBoingo, "outaged" ? [12:03]
mircea_popescu: lol he fixed it in the title... [12:03]
BingoBoingo: diana_coman: ty, fxd [12:03]
mircea_popescu: anyway, nfi what their racism angle is, most girls to call themselves "thicc" i ever saw were white (a subtrope of how "most girls to everything -- white, there's barely any blacks extant anyway). [12:04]
mircea_popescu: in other news, this businessinsider piece on "where people moved on to tumblr now that tumblr went all clinton" is entirely worthless. like it's the 1990s all over again and granny brings you "a different game just as good" she found in the discount bin because wtf is this warcraft thing anyway. [12:08]
mircea_popescu: the question stands as such, where's the place for me to from:mircea haslink:true from now on ?! [12:09]
mircea_popescu: i'm totally NOT blowing the dust off ye olde ro chan thing for fuck's sake. [12:09]
mircea_popescu: (and yes, in general the same process should yield, tumblr got picked because google kept popping it up. but we DEFINITELY live in the age of retardation, google is as useful for search as soviet mall is for shopping.) [12:11]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: they had 'porn purge' powered by that 'ai', the one which picks up lolcats as cunt etc [12:12]
mircea_popescu: yes, i recall, since http://trilema.com/forum-logs-for-18-dec-2018#2505007 [12:12]
a111: Logged on 2018-12-18 07:39 mircea_popescu: meanwhile in "tumblr goes full retard", https://i.ibb.co/HrXHSKJ/tumblr.jpg [12:12]
* diana_coman is impressed with asciilifeform's lolcat skillz in latest ffa proof :D [12:12]
mircea_popescu: lol [12:14]
asciilifeform: why ty diana_coman [12:16]
asciilifeform: lolcat is a powerful instrument, to be used sparingly, but imho nothing less would've sufficed for that part of the proof. [12:17]
mircea_popescu: meanwhile in etrange, https://cdn02.bdsmlr.com/uploads/pictures/2015/03/154/bdsmlr-142-aBDNPrbD8Q1.jpg [12:18]
asciilifeform: lol redditbag [12:19]
* asciilifeform always pictured 'redditbag' as having a standardized 'face' printed [12:19]
mircea_popescu: hey, "apple has had a homogenizing and sanitizing effect on '''the internet''' (ie, the special reservation for morons, retards and other debris finding its way the fuck out since 1993)." [12:22]
mircea_popescu: they found the standardkeepers -- those morons who still haven't figured out cabling. [12:23]
asciilifeform: y'mean aol? ( crapple only reluctantly even sold modem, in '93 ) [12:23]
mircea_popescu: no, i mean apple. they're still out there trying to sell three inch "cables" for 19.95 aren't they ? [12:24]
asciilifeform: 100! [12:24]
asciilifeform: inflation! [12:24]
mircea_popescu: right, 100 in today's dollars, almost a nickel. [12:24]
asciilifeform: mno, 100 ~now~ [12:24]
mircea_popescu: right! [12:25]
diana_coman: asciilifeform, phf I've signed and mirrored ch6 of ffa: http://ossasepia.com/reference-code-shelf/#selection-603.0-617.46 [12:25]
asciilifeform: ( i could go on at length, they've reached heights of lulz unknown even in 1990s, when they at least sold standard hdds. today even the drives have custom pinouts, cost 10 : 1 vs ordinary ) [12:26]
asciilifeform: diana_coman: ty ! i'ma roll this (and your prev sigs) into the currently-baking ch [12:26]
asciilifeform: btw diana_coman since you read 1-6, you can nao rsa!11 [12:26]
asciilifeform: ( per http://btcbase.org/log/2018-12-18#1881564 ) [12:26]
a111: Logged on 2018-12-18 20:14 asciilifeform: i can actually think of applications where you'd want 100% egypt. [12:26]
diana_coman: heh, yes: vjuh! [12:27]
asciilifeform: literally simplest possible (afaik) rsa. [12:27]
diana_coman: I actually timed it on a comp and it's not *that* bad,no [12:27]
asciilifeform: if yer sending a probe to pluto, it'll actually rsa faster than the time of signal bounce, yes [12:28]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: re crapple lulz : bolixtron lives in a mid-90s crapple, and it's surprisingly better in buncha ways than their current offering (standard cabling, ultrascsi hdd, apparently standard period rams , ordinary vga, etc ) [12:30]
mircea_popescu: aha. [12:31]
mircea_popescu: aaanyways, not really worth doing one of these other than as a distributed store, and so on. [12:32]
asciilifeform: ( tho, interestingly, this 'quadra 650' machine , per https://archive.is/G2Gd0 , orig. sold (empty!) for ~2400 (1993!) orcbux. ) [12:33]
asciilifeform: i.e. almost toyota in current . [12:33]
mircea_popescu: hey, 14 inch monitors were four digit also. [12:33]
asciilifeform: i recall [12:34]
asciilifeform: they had'em in the school i ended up in when went to usa [12:35]
asciilifeform: i remember thinking 'where the fuck is the rom basic' [12:35]
asciilifeform: 'how come our '82 3rdhand 'commodore' has basic and these mega-comps dunhave' [12:36]
mircea_popescu: i took it as a "freedom" : back in soviety, had to have basic, here can install w/e one wants. [12:37]
mircea_popescu: worked quite well in the dos/borland days. [12:38]
asciilifeform: never (at least then) located a programmable-anyffin that ran on these. all i managed to do was find how to get to the rom forth and hose the 'lockdowned' boxen [12:38]
mircea_popescu: and while gw-basic sucked balls, qbasic was a pleasure, and to this day a standard too far -- for eg, emacs, or for whatever. [12:38]
asciilifeform: to the delight of the other inmates [12:38]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: i fiddled with 'quickbasic' (the 'non-crippled' ver of microshit 'qbasic' for more yrs than care to admit [12:39]
asciilifeform: found how inline asm etc [12:39]
mircea_popescu: had ooda loop! [12:39]
diana_coman: uhm, esthlos's blog at blog.esthlos.com gives for me "error establishing a database connection"?? yo, esthlos, what are you doing those days? [12:39]
mircea_popescu: diana_coman confirmed. [12:40]
mircea_popescu: apparently he went away ? [12:40]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: phunphakt, msdos 'edit' is actually qbasic exe , with a few NOP'd bytes [12:40]
diana_coman: the summaries link is still working from what I can see [12:40]
diana_coman: but for the rest...no idea really [12:40]
asciilifeform: diana_coman: maybe he comes back. or, whoknows , some folx tune out but leave box on autopilot for ~years~ (e.g. mike_c did, or for instance Framedragger's log thing still worked as of coupla wks ago when i last looked.. ) [12:43]
asciilifeform: for that matter : some folx have net access in their tombs ! behold : http://naggum.no << loads [12:44]

asciilifeform: in other weird, apparently ye olde crapples had no way to physically anchor the 'nubus' cards to the case -- they just relied on the mechanical friction of the connector. and strangely enuff, thing survived shipping, not loose at all. [12:56]
asciilifeform: ( aint even a card-edge connector, like isa, pci,et al, but ye olde 'eurocard' thingie, with pins, like the old suns had ) [12:57]
mircea_popescu: nicoleci "Thereare" << your leads miss a space on all paragraph. [12:59]
nicoleci: mircea_popescu, ah thank you. fixing now [13:03]
nicoleci: fixed :) [13:04]
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: May your testing be fruitful http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/sS9cR/?raw=true [13:06]
mircea_popescu: ty [13:08]
asciilifeform: to revisit upstack, http://btcbase.org/log/2018-12-22#1882749 << there still aint anyffing (on pc, rather than bolixisms etc) that even equals the handiness of turboc & watcom (ideological successor, arguably) -- i.e. with the single-stepping inside editor, etc [13:11]

BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. [13:11]
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo wait, this ~doesn't~ come with preinstalled mp-wp ? [13:11]
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform f7!!! [13:12]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: aha! [13:12]
mircea_popescu: jesus i mashed f7 more than any other key before or hence [13:12]
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: I can set one up for you [13:12]
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo somehow i had this idea you just keep around a standard version that's auto-rolled into shared hosting users [13:12]
asciilifeform: mircea_popescu: he does, it's BingoBoingo-powered [13:12]
mircea_popescu: (seeing how there's ~nothing else for them to do on a shared acct anyway at any rate it's been why i funelled them) [13:12]
mircea_popescu: asciilifeform i don't get it ? [13:12]
asciilifeform: manual process, afaik [13:13]
mircea_popescu: am i missing something here ? either it is or it isn't -- {automated identical} [13:13]
asciilifeform: manual+identical [13:14]
mircea_popescu: hm. [13:14]
mircea_popescu: well BingoBoingo can i then have the item installed, since that's what i'm trying to test. [13:14]
asciilifeform: ( a la http://btcbase.org/log/2018-12-21#1882559 ) [13:15]
a111: Logged on 2018-12-21 16:57 mircea_popescu: in other vaguely related line, person recently pointed out "you know, your screen+vi&bash combo is almost like emacs for retards", to much private merriment. [13:15]
mircea_popescu: the specific installation. [13:15]
BingoBoingo: Installing now [13:15]
mircea_popescu: ty. [13:15]
BingoBoingo: mircea_popescu: http://p.bvulpes.com/pastes/n6ngQ/?raw=true << http://88isp.net/wp-login.php [13:36]
mircea_popescu: ty! [13:36]
* mircea_popescu likes the pizarro 32char pws. [13:38]
BingoBoingo: It's not like the extra characters come with extra cost [13:39]
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo so here's the problem : in http://88isp.net/wp-admin/post-new.php as extant in current install, there's two major items missing : 1) the html view (tab is there, but apparently unlinked to anything) and 2) the upload/insert (pops up some version of media-upload.php with article references etc on sane installs). [13:41]
mircea_popescu: this completely breaks it, at least as far as my workflow is concerned, because i never use anything besides 1 and you can't very practically get images in without 2. they're both core functionality of why i even bother with mp-wp in the first place, rather than some random other solution. [13:42]
mircea_popescu: now, traditionally 2 is caused by over-aggressive .htaccess settings in wp-admin and wp-admin/js however your .htaccess consists of "#Order deny,allow\n#Deny from all\n#Allow from all" [13:43]
mircea_popescu: which is not even sane (seeing how if uncommented the server croaks) and anyway dysfunctional (really, mp-wp installation is vulnerable to cookie hijacking, you're supposed to lock down wp-admin by ip, especially if you're going to be clicking on random links). [13:44]
mircea_popescu: i suspect breakage somewhere along the way, because iirc hanbot 's mp-wp that i testrun at some point had these. [13:45]
* BingoBoingo listens puts press mp-wp again on the agenda [13:45]
mircea_popescu: neways, will have to get to the bottom of this, because "visual" mode is both stupid and orgmode-like and really can't blog w/o pics, take nicoleci 's latest task, she gotta put in the orig pics or else what are we doing here. [13:46]
* BingoBoingo remembers something happening to tinymce down the line with hanbots patches to mp-wp will have to dig to see what happened. Neither of the editor tabs appear to be linked to anything in the mp-wp's I've pressed recently. They've just been html input/view boxes. [13:49]
BingoBoingo: The uploader though... [13:49]
BingoBoingo: That I will try digging into more [13:51]
mircea_popescu: aite. [13:51]
BingoBoingo: I'm not sure I've used an mp-wp install with a functional image uploader yet. [13:54]
mircea_popescu: but i mean... http://thewhet.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/cml4.jpg ? [13:56]
* BingoBoingo goes to logread and work on documentation hole [13:59]
BingoBoingo: and maybe spin up another new test instance or two. [14:02]
mircea_popescu: having a perma-test one isn't even the end of the world, let people try before. [14:08]
BingoBoingo: I suspect the end result is a recipe that involves a bit more user configuration, not the end of the world [14:16]
* asciilifeform fixed a coupla swapped = vs - signs in http://www.loper-os.org/?p=2875 , nfi why it took me 20+ rereads to notice.. [14:50]
asciilifeform: dunno if i said before, but these are a 1st-class bitch to write. [14:51]
asciilifeform: 100% hand-keyed htm liquishit. [14:51]
* asciilifeform considered to write a proggy to generate'em, but then thought better, 'would then have ~2~ problems' [14:53]
asciilifeform: i also dun wanna encourage the imho sad heathen thing where folx write 'take proggy and generate diagram'. imho proper proggy oughta be baked in such a way as to make this unnecessary, should be derivable from the description, rather than vice-versa. [14:55]
* asciilifeform bbl,tea [14:56]
mircea_popescu: BingoBoingo adding to the list of weird : preview button doesn't work either for some reason (expected behaviour : puts up a "as it'd look if published" article view actual behaviour : redirects one to an empty add article page). [18:19]
mircea_popescu: the cause is that it apparently doesn't auto-save drafts (resolved if one manually saves a draft). imo autosave nice feature to have. [18:20]
mircea_popescu: alsoi isn't translated to footnotes. hey hanbot did you ever include footnote plugin or did that get dropped somewhere in the interim ? [18:21]
BingoBoingo: Weird addred to list [19:14]
BingoBoingo: Other thing on the to do list, selection doesn't work on default theme iirc [19:15]
mircea_popescu: skeleton blogotron! [19:16]
BingoBoingo: Well, the list of with what meat to glue onto the bones is coming together [19:32]
lobbes: http://btcbase.org/log/2018-11-29#1876124 << in other news, I figured out the cause of my node's sad: I'm an idjit and didn't set up proper periodic debug.log clearing (thing was 226 GB O-o). Truncating via a "truncate -s 0 /home/lobbes/.bitcoin/debug.log" did the trick noad now is at 411015 (after being wedged at exactly 386827 for months). [20:00]

lobbes: http://trinque.org/2018/11/27/cuntoo-bootstrapper/#comment-47 << to update: I ended up having to re-run the bootstrapper.sh as the first time around I neglected to get the correct kernel. Second run I was able to boot from teh usb on the lenovo x61 (exciting seeing that 'Cuntoo' in the lilo bootloader). Next up is testing a subsequent install onto the main HD of the x61 from the usb. (Once complete I aim [20:00]
lobbes: to write up a blog poast of all my steps along with the kernel config I used for the lenovo) [20:00]
lobbes: Btw, here is the vpatch of my second-run >> http://lobbesblog.com/static/genesis_2018_12_22.vpatch. Just to test, I used the 'classic' vdiff in lieu of my keccak vdiffer, but the sig still did not verify for me. Possibly just something I fucked along the way though [20:00]
* lobbes is going to be road travelling for the next few days so may not be able to respond to pings right away. However I'll be reading logs and will respond to any pings upon return [20:01]
trinque: pretty cool lobbes. I don't know that I've heard anyone report yet that it didn't boot for them. I've still got more work to do to make the genesis.vpatch unform across runs. [20:23]
trinque: to clarify, it's uniform across same-machine runs, but apparently not between machines. [22:08]
