Files from the War on the Web. Today, PBNation.

PBNation is yet another VBulletin-crippledi community-orientedii website that nevertheless hides quite the priceless lulzgem under all the spurious web-blingiii. Check this out :

Should be safe, because nobody could have predicted, I guess. Obviously, the userlist is trivially iterable, this being the same old vbulletin crap, and so if you're here because you received an email about how PBNation is a piece of shit - believe that message ; for it is true.

And if you're not here because you received such email, believe it anyway, for it is true nevertheless.

For the spinmeisters : the discussion as to how nobody cares how you editorialize this is to be found here, save your breath.

For the technically inclined : learn how to do userlists the right way.

———
  1. They like to say "powered", but the notion is laughable. []
  2. The "community-oriented site" is a slightly more advanced sort of MFA. To understand each other : the Made For Adsense website is a collection of html documents that prey on well understood, perennial weaknesses in the Bayesian delusion / alternative approach to reality.

The COS is an upgrade of that, except preying on what are nowadays called "communities", which is to say cults (or if you prefer, single-issue independents). The specific weaknesses of such groups, and the detailed particulars of how scammers infiltrate and exploit them are also well documented in literature. Suffice it to say that the sort of people who participate in such types of socialisation are not particularly mentally capable to begin with, and show significant bias. Poorly defended bias is the definition of exploitability, and so it will be exploited.

In the end, there's really not so much difference between a really advanced excel spreadshit and a really commonplace derp, and the gap has been sparked through sometime recently in a systematic manner ; but otherwise it's older than steam, and possibly older than dirt. []

  3. CNA, crap, nonsense and advertising. All blinking, of course. []
