As you can see, no expenses these two months. I give the voice to the engineer mostly in charge :
What follows is the combined S.NSA broadcast for November and December of 2014.
During this period, your humble servant was heavily occupied with certain duties by way of which he earns his daily bread. The less said about this rather dreary subject, the better. It will suffice to note that the time (normally consisting of his nights and weekends) entirely lost [1] to S.NSA adds up to nearly a month's worth on the whole.
Now for the good news!
(A) Pertaining to the Instrument (see October and earlier broadcasts):
Carried out a series of experiments with the centroid-finder camera (see earlier broadcasts); continued to refine the necessary image processing code for this component.
Motion controller for the x-y-z-r axes now functions correctly.
Presently engaged with fitting axis limit sensors (of the optical interrupter variety) to the apparatus. Rather lengthy process, because it requires disassembly of the carcass (see the first broadcast pertaining to the Instrument), drilling, and reassembly (which entails re-alignment for proper orthogonality.)
Tested solenoid valve (see October broadcast) for proper function (e.g., timing) and machined appropriate hose barbs.
Plan is for Instrument is to be readied for 'firing in anger' by the end of January 2015.
(B) A small detour:
In October, I witnessed the travails of a certain project (which I may have accidentally instigated, and ended up contributing a small amount of labour to...) involving a message board and PGP-signed code snippets [2]. Shortly after this, also witnessed DDOS artists taking an unusual interest in self and associates. This led me to succumb to a small temptation: reviving a certain idea that I have experimented with, on and off, for some time [3] pertaining to a decentralized secure communication mechanism.
In a sense, it is a project directly and intimately linked with Cardano, and probably ought to be unveiled together with it. [4]
... Perhaps earlier, if my stamina permits, because it may be a direly necessary 'parachute'. [5]
I do not at present time have a formal written description of the apparatus (draft nicknamed 'kapelle', as in 'die rote kapelle') but interested readers are invited to study the pertinent thread in #b-a (see earlier note) and likewise an article on Mircea Popescu's site, describing an eerily similar apparatus of his own independent invention. [6]
- ----
October/December BOM:
There is no BOM for this reporting period. All work has been conducted using materials purchased during earlier periods, or, in the case of theoretical labours, no materials at all.

[1] Even managed to pick up the flu. That's what leaving your house gets you! This tidbit is included here solely on account of being the reason for the skipped November broadcast.

There is also a certain amount of program code in common between the two problems.[5] Probably shouldn't print this! How screwed is #b-a in the short term? Perhaps worth a return letter?

Meanwhile the project discussed under B seems to have taken off of its own accord. It will receive all the support it can receive, for clearly it is a very important tool in the present circumstances.i
———- Leaving aside the well documented weakness of freenode, ircd itself may well be going the way of linux. [↩]
