Heroes of Newerth
The name is really stupid, but it's an IGN release so the graphics are pretty slicki:
It's a sort of DotAii only better. Basically speaking, a tower defense game on steroids and also about as addictive as crack cocaine, or crack, or cocaine, or crack cocaine what was I saying ?
A, yes. Looky :
See that buzzling dunch of little iconlets ? They're hero faces, you can pick one of about a hundred or so I think. They all have their very own 4-skill set, there's items they can buy at the town shop to boost up, player styles they require vary considerablyiii and yea, did I mention it's addictive ?
You can play 1v1 all the way to 5v5, a typical game runs half hour to an hour or so, there's about 20 to 30 thousand players online at all times, there's a complete ladder system, new content about every couple of weeks and yea, it's paid to play. Which brings us to this link here. It's my referral link, if you use it we'll be made friends. I get some coins when you make level 2 and you get access to my ability to start games of varying sizes in which you can play the full hero set (otherwise you're stuck playing automatched games 'till you make level 5iv which are always 5v5 and you can only use 40 heros or something like that).
The download is something like 1.2 Gb, takes about half an hour on a decent connection. See you there.
———- One of the best integrations of cinematic content in a game I've seen to date, too. It looks like a spiffed up youtube player. [↩]
- Defense of the Ancients, a WIII mod. [↩]
- But no, there's not 100 distinct player styles, mostly for the obvious reason that there can't be. [↩]
- Should be 50-100 or so games, depending on how good you are. [↩]

Hmm, I think about two years have passed since I last played. Yep, truly addictive.

I put quite a few hundred hours into this game :D
Anyway, it feels a bit awkward to me now after playing dota2 a lot.

It prolly is a little awkward.
BTW, add an avatar.png on ancientbeast.com/ so you get an avatar.

Yeah, they don't really cover some common actions from the UI in HoN, while Dota2 does, so meh.
I've noticed your weird avatar thingy going on, Mircea. Anyway, considered it would be better if you just support gravatar.com perhaps, so that avatar gets fetched automatically from the provided email address. It's really easy to implement and very popular. Haven't seen many websites requiring avatar.png on provided website :D Might do it though.

I used to.

Oh gotcha. The peasant icon as default one would have been more fun xD
