On February 9, Ambassador Taubman and Foreign Minister Ungureanu signed the protocols exchanging the instruments of ratification of the Additional Protocol to the Bilateral Investment Agreement (BIT). Romania's instrument of ratification and the original signed protocols will be sent via diplomatic pouch to EUR/NCE's Aaron Jensen. The ceremony was well attended by journalists, with most media coverage focusing on the Ambassador's praise for outgoing Minister Ungureanu and the need for Romania to continue to make progress fighting corruption and reforming its justice system. Other outlets covered the Ambassador's remarks regarding the strength of U.S. investment and its role in transforming Romania into a knowledge-based economy.
