So I planted a few artichokes, starting from seed. They grew wonderfully all through September and October. And November. In spite of cold rains and cold winds and anything else. Just as long as they didn't get any sun they were happy.

On the 1st it froze pretty solid overnight. They were undaunted. On the 3rd we had frozen rain, so much so I had to pour a quart of hot water on the garbage can lid to be able to open it. They were unimpressed. Last night it snowed. There they are, covered in snow. Green. Waiting.

Waiting to strangle me.
