PS. Added some (I suspect much needed) clarity to the last footnote's last paragraph.

I rather suspect that if Alexander were known to us in any life-likeness you'd be hard pressed to repress the natural desire to suck his diminutively cute Macedonian penis. At least if contemporary testi-mony is anything to go by...

As to the rest I can't answer, lesser aspirant copies of ulterior times.

But you do have a point, the king of emo possibly looks quite just like this. Unless, of course, the case is backwards, and the king of emo'd look just like what emo looks which merely happens to be exactly what the king of emo looked like. Right ? I mean, it's not like there was a Hot Topic before Poe, it's not like the mall rats of the next graduation choose in a void, establishing a thing from whence no thing was before. They just hung out at the mall, like mall rats do, and out of their surroundings they fashioned a nest. The girl-kiskadee who first figures out how to separate the dangly, noodly nest materials from the stick holding the mop together doesn't exactly invent a new look for the kiskadee nest, does she ? When you pee purple for having eaten too much beet you're not a novel pisser of new pissy colors, are you ?

Do you suppose if Robert III, Walter, Alexander, or the Duke of Albany were known to us in daguerreotype rather'n the marginal doodlings of the avowedly unfucked, we'd judge them finer than the wounded and questionably alimented specimen above? A handsome aspiring king of gloom is like a chocolate-dipped bologna sandwich --and while that might've been the sort of thing Poe ate, by the looks of those sickly jowls, it's still an abomination. Like my similie.
