mircea_popescu mod6 maybe you're thinking recoleta. i did that one a while back. [00:54]
mircea_popescu i think at least. [00:54]
mitch_callahan sweet, voiced up. :) [00:55]
* asciilifeform still needs to post his recoleta pics [00:55]
asciilifeform fully 90% of what was in the camera, even. [00:55]
Michail1 midnightmagic mike_c mircea_popescu mitch_callahan mius mixdio [00:55]
mircea_popescu who're you, mitch_callahan [00:55]
mitch_callahan mircea_popescu, I was using menahem, but my key expired. [00:56]
mitch_callahan n00b mistake, bitcoin-assets is my crypto 101 [00:56]
mircea_popescu ah [00:56]
mitch_callahan i wanted to change my nick anyhow [00:56]
mircea_popescu !rarte [00:56]
mircea_popescu !rated menahem [00:56]
assbot You rated user menahem on 26-Apr-2015, with a rating of 1, and supplied these additional notes: New blood. [00:56]
mircea_popescu asciilifeform i discovered a new japanese restaurant (in china town) whereby i had an exceptional peruan soup. [00:57]
mircea_popescu i poured a little on the floor for your soul. [00:57]
asciilifeform mmm [00:57]
* assbot gives voice to phf [00:57]
* asciilifeform honoured [00:58]
* asciilifeform got a spiffy gift from a phriend, a mouse where various pieces of the chassis can move around to fit the hand, various iron knobs. endlessly tunable thing. had no idea this existed. [01:00]
asciilifeform 'rat 9' [01:00]
mitch_callahan oh nice [01:02]
mitch_callahan I've got one of those [01:02]
mitch_callahan how do you like it? [01:02]
asciilifeform it is very neat. but, what to do with the extra buttonz ! [01:02]
mitch_callahan lol [01:02]
mitch_callahan on the left, I use the 2 as forward/back [01:03]
mitch_callahan i find it helps with carpal tunnel. [01:03]
* phf uses http://www.amazon.com/HP-Optical-Button-Mouse-accessory/dp/B0002Y5LZ8 [01:04]
assbot Amazon.com: HP Optical 3 Button Mouse,usb,accessory: Electronics ... ( http://bit.ly/1L2VyHP ) [01:04]
mircea_popescu best be careful, lest at night it reassembles itself into a dulap. [01:04]
asciilifeform it already looks quite like one... [01:04]
asciilifeform http://www.xoticpc.com/images/accessories/mice/rat9_02.jpg [01:05]
assbot ... ( http://bit.ly/1L2VCHC ) [01:05]
asciilifeform (this is not clear from the photo, but the 'wings' are on long screws and... can move) [01:06]
mitch_callahan and you can add weights to it [01:06]
phf pretty sure that thing has a remote triggered cyanide injector. a "present" for ascii [01:06]
asciilifeform various nice touches. e.g. the wheel well goes all the way through, does not collect shit like normal mouse [01:06]
* mircea_popescu having homemade black forest with "alamos" chardonnay, supposedly "best seller in teh usa". it's not terribru. [01:07]
asciilifeform phf: the weights ought to be trotyl [01:07]
mircea_popescu pro tip : for the best cooler, pour mineral water in the icecream tray. [01:07]
asciilifeform phf: lulzy gadget: draws so much current that the battery has to be changed daily. it pulls out, like pistol clip, and changes places with identical, included stick, that charges in the radio receiver [01:08]

mircea_popescu also, god fucking help the heretics with their white shit on the black forest cake. it's devil's food in ganache, not fucking light cream ffs. [01:09]
mircea_popescu (meanwhile, substituting sour cherries + kirsch for banana slices + rum ; or caramelized pineapple and good cognac is legitimate.) [01:12]
phf kids these days with their fancy mice. back in my day we had to clean mouse balls before each quake 1 match with wet wipes [01:18]
asciilifeform l0l i still have one of those somewhere. [01:18]
asciilifeform even got a sun photodiode mouse (but misplaced the reflector!) [01:18]
mitch_callahan i remember my step mom would take that ball out as punishment. sucked. [01:19]
* assbot removes voice from mitch_callahan [01:24]
phf i refused to use optical mouse for a long time, because my railgun technique involved upwards swipe, that would periodically glitch out with an optical mouse and would rotate completely randomly. good times. [01:25]
mircea_popescu old optical mice were pretty shitty. [01:26]
mircea_popescu then again, old ball mice... i had a straight lines and right angles genius. because molding plastic was hard in the 80s [01:27]

mircea_popescu yeah but 3 buttons [01:29]
mircea_popescu same exact button type tho, with that angle. [01:29]
* agorecki (~agorecki@unaffiliated/agorecki) has joined #bitcoin-assets [01:29]
mircea_popescu no because lightbulbs came after that [01:30]
mircea_popescu anyway, they had a very heavy steel ball with a thin silicone covering. [01:32]

mitch_callahan haha yep, that would be me [01:37]
mitch_callahan lots of derping, doing "merchant" stuff [01:38]
mitch_callahan pete_dushenski smacked some sense into me [01:38]
hanbot oh hey, cool. [01:39]
mitch_callahan i think those guys finally reached their goal a year later. i should have some clearly canadian to give away in the near future. i cant remember what it cost me in btc, though. [01:41]

mircea_popescu is clearly canadian some sort of alcohol ? [01:41]
mitch_callahan its an old fruit flavoured beverage that was popular in the 80's and 90's [01:42]
hanbot iirc it's an alt-cola [01:42]
* agorecki has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [01:43]
mitch_callahan a guy in the US bought the trademark and brought it back [01:43]
mircea_popescu ah ah i recall now yea [01:44]
mircea_popescu ironically the guy actually tried to get it on mpex, but this was back in the single digit times. [01:44]
mitch_callahan ha, what! [01:45]
mitch_callahan he met a lot of people very quickly. iirc he had erik voorhees on the line, amongst others. bitpay was pushing it, too. [01:46]
mitch_callahan it jump started me in the space, mostly meeting people, seeing who's who. started a meetup, etc etc. [01:48]
mircea_popescu it would have been a horrible idea (as i pointed out at the time). a purely fiat business like selling fizz fits very poorly on bitcoin. [01:49]
mircea_popescu next thing you know it runs up 10k% (as it did) and you're left paying pennies to the dollar to your investors, IN SPITE of having done a great job. [01:49]
mitch_callahan it was those price movements that got them all paranoid, too and they stopped mentioning btc. [01:52]
mitch_callahan man im surprised through his research he ended up chatting with you [01:52]
mitch_callahan good on him [01:52]
* NewLiberty has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [01:52]
mitch_callahan in the early days, if one looked up bitcoin, one would find mpex shortly thereafter [01:53]
mitch_callahan I discovered mpex about 2 minutes after i discovered bitcoin. [01:53]
mircea_popescu not that different today really. [01:53]
mitch_callahan piles of shit on top [01:54]
mircea_popescu well depends on what is meant by research, of course [01:54]
mircea_popescu so i guess. [01:54]
