Just went by Sotheby;s, they're listing a schloss (belle epoque palace) not far out of town, for a 12mn euro buy now price. The thing's like... well, how should I put this... a fucking palace ?

And there's nothing like the above building in Montevideo that isn't a ruin, carved into a hundred or so different condo titles (Palacio Rinaldi), or sitting on the Intendencia's books waiting to become some sort of community market (The central rail station).

Potentially encouraging in the mid to long term is that a Russian firm has introduced autoclaved concrete block technology to Uruguay. These claved masonry units can be seen filling the side walls of most new Hrushistic tower construction projects. Either on their own or on the higer floors while ceramic blocks do the lower floors.

Maybe it'll make sense in 3-10 years to stack blocks and build a TMSR church/Dark Wizard Tower/etc down here. The tech seems to be here. It just isn't going into houses.
