XOR encryption does not work well without a one-time pad. If the data-rate is low enough, you may want to consider sending an AES encryption key. AES is reasonably fast and secure. In testing, I was able to encrypt at ~20MB/s with a Pentium III machine. (I forget the exact key-size used) Like the use of PGP for logging in.
